Stay tuned – I hope to announce a new book by the end of the summer. Not from me, but from my son.
If he keeps up his pace, he’ll be a third generation author in no time.
We go for walks twice a day most days. Lately, he’s been sharing with me his (really good) ideas about a science fiction story. I told him to write it down.
I’m so proud of his persistence, he’s over 20,000 words into it at the time of this writing. He’ll either have a novella of about 40,000 words or a full novel if he gets over 55,000.
It’s such a strong example to me of how much persistance pays off. He has plenty of down time in the summer so he’s put an hour or so into it nearly every day.
Have you ever wanted to write a book? I’ve seen informal surveys saying that the majority of adults do. There is such a profound sense of accomplishment to look at the physical version of your book and share it with the world.
I know it sounds like it’s hard, but the hard part is just sitting down and starting. It’s not that hard to brainstorm for a few minutes. Just add a bunch of sessions like that together and you’ve got it. Once you have a ritual for even a 1/2 hour a day, it all adds up.
If you’ve ever dreamed of writing a book, I challenge you. Make this the year you start and give yourself a deadline. Tell someone about it also. All I ask is that when you finish, I’d love to hear about it.
To your health,
